Richard Blumenthal (born February 13, 1946) is an American lawyer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he has served as a U.S. Senator from Connecticut since 2011. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Blumenthal attended Riverdale Country School before earning an A.B. from Harvard College, where he was editor-in-chief of The Harvard Crimson, studying for a year at Trinity College, Cambridge, and earning a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal.
